Introducing 4dFI Capital Partners

When I started writing about fintech and interviewing entrepreneurs on my podcast, my only goal was to learn everything I could and share it. There weren’t too many fintech geeks back in 2009, but we were a tight and growing group of people across the finance industry.

I didn’t know it then, but we were building a community. Our weekly newsletter and podcast became a way to share our industry’s collective successes and challenges with thousands of professionals. On my travels, I would bump into people all around the world who told me that the Tearsheet newsletter was all they needed to stay on top of the future of finance.

Moving from audience to community

2024 was an important year for Tearsheet. We had hundreds of executives in financial services join us in our Working Groups. Some of these are monthly meetings — some are day-long roundtable events. Some are in person and others are virtual. But whatever their form, we’re co-creating content with financial services and fintech professionals to address some of the biggest issues in our industry: SMB finance, building financial products for Gen Z, real time payments, and more.

We believe that a subset of financial services professionals wants more than to read press releases, wants more than to talk about digital transformation that never seems to happen, wants more than to sit passively as the industry passes them by.

It’s with this perspective that we encourage our audience to take more active roles in participating in what’s happening on the edges in the industry. To move from Tearsheet audience to our community.

Today, we’re launching 4dFI Capital Partners, an experiential and educational investment opportunity for financial services and fintech professionals to participate in fintech innovation happening around the world.

What is 4dFI Capital Partners?

4dFI is an exclusive group of out-of-the-box builders and investors building a community to invest in the next wave of fintech startups.

As a core of our community, we’re bringing together current and former banking executives interested in investing in and learning about emerging market fintech startups. Through industry expertise, 4dFI’s network will be able to both help new companies reach maturity faster, while startups can provide new ways of thinking to our community members.

Additionally, 4dFI has partnered with Tearsheet, and together our two firms can showcase portfolio companies through our media content, providing valuable PR and exposure to help expedite rapid growth.

Meet the 4dFI team

RUSSELL WEISS

One of the most creative minds in fintech, Russell is ex-Amex and a top product mind turned self-taught head of decision sciences and analytics. He has worked to build seminal startups like Weel, a lender to Brazilian SMBs, which utilized the country’s real-time PIX system to innovatively offer credit to companies that would be addicted to expensive local factoring schemes otherwise.

JOSH LIGGETT

One of the OG Tearsheet reporters, Josh chronicled the emergence of crypto as a transformative moment in financial services. He exploded onto the fintech and Web3 investing scene at OurCrowd, where he led fintech and blockchain diligence, investments, and strategic partnerships.

ZACK MILLER

As founder and editor in chief of Tearsheet, Zack Miller has established one of the most influential voices in financial services journalism, bringing a fresh perspective to coverage of fintech, banking innovation, and digital transformation. Under his leadership, Tearsheet has become an essential resource for industry professionals seeking to understand the rapidly evolving intersection of finance and technology.
