Executive Summary:

In March, I spoke to Alyssa Schaefer, General Manager and Chief Experience Officer at KeyBank’s digital brand, Laurel Road. She highlighted that broadening the firm’s financial and educational offerings, improving its hospital partnership strategy, and leveraging the data and insights produced from their segmentation efforts were major objectives on her agenda for the year.

Schaefer reports success on all fronts:

  1. In July, Laurel Road launched two new products, namely a loan forgiveness consultation service called Laurel Road Student Loan Freedom and Laurel Road Freedom Plus Checking account.
  2. Laurel Road has also expanded its hospital partnership network. Schaefer and her team are deepening these relationships through enhancing the products and services Laurel Road can provide its healthcare partners and their employees.
  3. Schaefer and her team are also using insights from their refreshed segmentation strategy to assess how well her personalization efforts are going, how to better handle customer issues and how to increase consumer banking offerings with KeyBank.
